Hash Generator
Generate MD5 and SHA hashes of any text or file, create HMAC signatures and verify checksums — all instantly in your browser.
Hashes are calculated in your browser — your text and files are never uploaded.

Paste an expected hash to verify a match.
Why use our Hash Generator?
5 algorithms
MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 at once.
File hashing
Hash large files (ISO, ZIP, APK) with a progress bar.
HMAC
Keyed HMAC-SHA signatures for APIs and webhooks.
Checksum compare
Paste a hash and see which algorithm matches.
Hex or Base64
Output in lowercase, UPPERCASE hex or Base64.
Private
Files are hashed locally — never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about the Hash Generator.
Back to the toolWhat is a hash?
A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint of data. The same input always gives the same hash, and a tiny change gives a completely different one.
Can a hash be reversed?
No. Hashes are one-way. However, weak hashes of simple passwords can be guessed with lookup tables, so do not use MD5 or SHA-1 for passwords.
Which hash should I use?
Use SHA-256 or SHA-512 for integrity checks. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checksums but not for security. For passwords use bcrypt or Argon2.
How do I verify a downloaded file?
Choose the file, then paste the checksum published by the developer in the compare box. A green match means the file is intact.
What is HMAC?
HMAC combines a secret key with a hash to sign messages. It is used to verify webhooks and API requests.
